The massive potential of a CP4 fuel pump failure has been a widely known issue reported across the diesel truck community. An expensive truck is, by design and customer expectation, supposed to deliver the performance and value reflecting its price tag. For buyers of the 2011-16 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles, equipped with Duramax diesel engines, the sticker tag pricing brought with it owners expectation of reliability, durability and long-term value. It would be hard to imagine anyone purchasing such an expensive truck if owners were made aware that it could come with a costly repair down the road.
Unfortunately, for far too many owners of the Duramax diesel-equipped 2011-16 Silverado and Sierra, the widespread failures of the CP4 fuel pump has led to costly repairs and out-of-pocket expenses while the vehicle is out of service and more. Users on diesel truck forums, Reddit and even their own personal social media accounts have described complaints for years about the fuel pump problem. The failure of fuel pumps in diesel trucks can be easily located through these firsthand accounts posted online. Yet, somehow, General Motors (GM) has been able to avoid major responsibility, such as a nationwide recall of vehicles, to address the CP4 fuel pumps failures. This lack of action on their 2011-16 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks despite the impact these fuel pump repairs and replacements can cause owners is unacceptable.
If you have had to have your fuel pump repaired or replaced in a 6.6L diesel Silverado or Sierra vehicle, Stern Law is here to help.

Legal Solutions for CP4 Fuel Pump Failures
Even when a class action settlement was reached covering California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas it only included purchasers in these states. That resolution left some in these states wanting more. This likely seems odd to you as GM knew they were producing vehicles that would experience a CP4 fuel pump failure and had failed to did not proactively resolve the issue before selling these vehicles. Unfortunately, it is another example of owners being left to accept responsibility for a matter they knew nothing about before purchasing their vehicles.
The GM CP4 fuel pump failure occurring in these vehicles may be tied to a wide range of issues, though no one is accepting responsibility for all of the resulting damages. Reportedly the failure can cause significant additional issues, essentially “contaminating” the entire fuel system due to metal shavings passing through a variety of the vehicle’s parts. That is a major problem, with a potential major price tag.
Product defect cases are nothing new when it comes to the law. Unfortunately, though, our firm has seen major parts issues resolved in class action cases where current and former owners largely receive little or nothing for their troubles. Transmission cases in particular have emerged as a major area of concern; at times, some settlements seem to help the manufacturer more because the manufacturer is thereby permitted to limit its responsibility and in turn, limit the recovery of current and former owners. Even more troubling, though, these class action settlements automatically include all current and former owners by default unless they opt out. This means that even if someone did not know about the case or misunderstood what it offered, they are forever bound to its terms.
Compensation Claims for Silverado, Sierra Fuel Pump Repairs
Stern Law has been involved for years in helping those facing class action cases avoid the terms of class action settlements that they did not agree with. By filing individual claims through mass actions for those who ‘opt out’ of limiting class actions, we have made a major difference in the lives of people who never expected the problems they encountered with their vehicle. We also have been involved in settling out of court the claims of people who have faced financial hardships and/or general issues due to a defective part in their automobile. Our representation focuses not on amassing class action settlement legal fees and awarding ‘coupon’-level awards to those we have represented, but on real results. Stern Law has secured results for our clients where no other options seemed available to them by pursuing individual cases for our clients interested in seeking all the compensation they deserve. It is what we do and clients appreciate our work due to the results we deliver.
Stern Law is currently taking on claims from current and former owners of 2011-16 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles who, at some point, had their CP4 fuel pump repaired or replaced. We are not filing a class action, nor are we working with any class action law firm to limit your legal options. Our firm, instead, focuses on helping those who are in a state not already resolved by the existing class action to pursue compensation for the fuel pump failure problems caused by General Motors’ decision-making in these select vehicles. Please click here to submit the information we need to begin the process of a claim today.
